Reflection: First Month
This past week the store turned one month old. Time is moving much faster now than it did while we were waiting and waiting and waiting for the construction to finish so we could move in. The positive response from our customers on a daily basis makes us feel great. The most common feedback we get is how refreshing it is to have an independent outdoor store here in town carrying fresh new product rather than the same old drab found at nearly every other outfitter. A lot of new product (i.e. toys) has helped fill the store in this past month as well as some new displays recycled from a store going out of business. Petzl and Granite Gear have been added to the mix; Outdoor Research and Mountain Hardwear will be landing in the next week or two. We built our portable changing room and a swinging gate as well to keep our dogs safe behind the counters. Maddie (Matt's pooch) loves people watching out of the ground-level windows and all of the attention customers The lightweight Hurricane kayaks are a hit and we are hoping to get our classes off the ground this month as the signup list of interested customers is getting quite long!
We will be heading out to the trade show this week to check out the new Spring 08 product. I can't wait to see what Hurricane has in store for us next year as well as all the new recycled packs Mountain Smith has added to their line. Take it easy on our fill-in staff while we are gone, they'll be pointing out any problems when we review the store security video ;-)
See everyone next week.

Hi Matthew and Jonathon!
Dad and I had a great time and enjoyed all your wonderful clients while working at your store. We hope you will keep us in mind the next time you peruse a trade show or simply need some time for yourselves. And, thank you for the tasty dinner; that was very appreciated, but that is not something you need to do. Remember, people help others out of love...nothing in return is ever needed. We are so proud of you both and know that all is going well, but please never hesitate to ask for help. We love you!
